CYC 2021 COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS

CYC has developed the following rules and protocols based on guidelines set forth by the state of Maine and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Due to the dynamic nature of the pandemic and the state and CDC guidelines, these protocols are subject to change at any time. If you are traveling from a state outside the New England region, please check for any travel restrictions or guidelines that pertain to traveling from your state to the state of Maine.

We encourage CYC participants, and their families, to practice social distancing and mask-wearing, avoid traveling, and refrain from indoor social gatherings during the two weeks prior to arrival at camp. Additionally, we request that each family minimize the number of other family members coming to drop off and pick up their children to as few as possible. Ideally, only one parent/guardian is necessary.

RULES FOR DROP-OFF/PICK-UP

1) Only one parent/guardian should accompany each family of campers through the registration/check-out process (i.e. If siblings are attending CYC, still only one parent/guardian is needed for those siblings)
2) Masks are required throughout the registration/check-out line and whenever 6-feet social distancing is not possible, except for people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19
3) Participants and parents/guardians will complete a brief health screening upon arrival
4) Each participant (e.g. camper, staff, faculty) must provide a printed copy of their COVID-19 vaccination card OR a printed copy of their negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within 1-3 days prior to arrival
5) Masks are required indoors, including in cabins (campers will be able to remove their masks when in their own cabin after registration time ends; see below for more information), except for people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19

RULES FOR THE DURATION OF CYC FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT FULLY VACCINATED

1) Masks are required indoors
2) Masks are not required when in your own cabin/sleeping quarters or when indoors with only people who share that space (this may be referred to as a “household”)
3) Members of a household should maintain at least 3-feet social distancing
4) Masks are required outdoors when 6-feet social distancing cannot be maintained, except when you are with only members of your household
5) Masks are required while singing or shouting (including during meals)

RULES FOR THE DURATION OF CYC FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE FULLY VACCINATED

1) Masks are required indoors
2) Masks are not required when in your own cabin/sleeping quarters or when indoors with only people who share that space (this may be referred to as a “household”)
3) Members of a household should maintain at least 3-feet social distancing
4) Masks are encouraged outdoors when 6-feet social distancing cannot be maintained
5) 6-feet social distancing is strongly encouraged when with people who are not also vaccinated and are not in your “household”
6) Masks are required while singing or shouting (including during meals)

PROTOCOLS FOR SUSPECTED COVID-19 INFECTION

1) Any participant who exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 will be taken to a local health clinic for testing and will be quarantined to a designated cabin while results are pending
2) Any participant who tests positive for COVID-19 will need to be picked up immediately
3) All “close contacts” who are not fully vaccinated (Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more) will be isolated from the rest of CYC participants while test results are pending for the person who exhibits symptoms and if the results confirm infection
4) All close contacts of a person who is confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 will need to be picked up immediately, except for people who are fully vaccinated
5) Close contacts who are fully vaccinated will be monitored for signs of any potential COVID-19 symptoms, but will not need to isolate or be picked up unless symptoms appear
6) The CYC nurse will contact the state of Maine Department of Health and Human Services as necessary to report COVID-19 cases

ADDITIONAL RULES/PROTOCOLS

1) Screening tests will be performed during the first week
2) Dining will be outdoors whenever possible
3) If indoor dining is necessary, seating will be with household groups
4) Additional cleaning/sanitizing efforts will include wiping all high-touch surfaces (e.g. bathrooms, door handles, light switches) in cabins and shared bathrooms twice a day
5) Participants are strongly encouraged to always wash their hands before eating
6) Participants will complete a brief health screening every day
7) Fully vaccinated is defined as having received the final shot of an FDA authorized COVID-19 vaccine two weeks prior to arrival at CYC 2021 (on or before 7/25/21).
8) Large group activities, such as chapel, classes, camp meetings, and evening programs will be outdoors as often as possible
